Julie Hamp Named GM Europe Vice President, Communications

2006-05-16 -- Effective July 1, Julie Hamp (46), currently General Director Communications for GM's Latin America, Africa, Middle East (LAAM) region, is appointed GM Europe Vice President, Communications. She replaces Tony Cervone, who has been named GM North America Vice President, Communications.
In her new capacity as GM Europe Vice President, Communications, Julie will be responsible for all external and internal communications activities for GM's European operations, including the Saab, Opel, Vauxhall and Chevrolet brands. She will also serve as a member of the European Strategy Board. Julie will be based at GM Europe’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Ferris State University, Michigan, U.S.A. She started her GM career in 1981, in the Buick Motor Division communications team. In 1987, Julie began working at the Flint Automotive Division where she was responsible for internal and external communications. She held various communications positions of increasing responsibility at the Cadillac/Luxury Car Engineering and Manufacturing Division and, in 1997, was named Communications Director for Cadillac. In 1998, she held the dual position of Vice President Corporate Communications for Saturn and Internal Communications Director for the Car Group. In the following year, Julie was appointed Group Director for the former North American Car Group and, in 2001, was named Staff Director, Sales, Service & Marketing Communications. She was appointed to her current position in September of 2004.
